DUCT 30.05.05
On Monday 30.05.05 in the morning, some interesting conditions were about.
My FM set up is still off air which is really becoming annoying, its much
easier to judge conditions with SSB as well as FM.
From Mt Gambier, at 644 Km, I was able to copy some of their beacons quite
well. 144.550 was 5/9+10; 432.550 was 5/9; 1296.550 peaked to 5/1 on the
radio, which is actually around 35 dB above the noise, not bad.
Unfortunately no operators to make any contacts with from Mt Gambier at the
time.
Adelaide beacon was up to 5/5 - 144.450 at 762 Km. Despite this, it was a
struggle to make any contacts from this area. I had VK5UBC call me but was
unable to hear a thing from Brian. Garry VK5ZK also put out a call which I
could not hear. A few mins later I did just work Garry at 5/5 but it quickly
went again.
I also worked Terry VK3ATS in Mildura - 466 Km up to 5/9+10. Also 5/6 on
432.100 but this one was difficult.
Worked Jim VK3II on 144.100 - 5/9+20dB signal.
Big signal (144.100) noted from Trevor VK3KEG at Kyabram, though only about
220 Km away Trevor was up to 5/9+50dB on 144.100; he was 5/9+20 on 432.100
and peaked out to 5/6 on 1296.100.
